It’s not often that a Spanish galleon makes landfall on the New Jersey shore, but that’s what will happen at Shellenger’s Landing in Cape May this autumn, when the Andalucia pays a visit.
You may recognize the 167-foot Andalucia from the “Pirates of the Caribbean” film franchise starring Johnny Depp as well as the television series “Crossbones” starring John Malkovich. She was built in 2010 as a replica of the ships that sailed from Spain to Asia and the Americas during the 1600s. She’s owned by the Spanish government and used as an exhibition ship.
The Andalucia’s visit to New Jersey from September 3-7 is part of a mid-Atlantic tour with stops at Baltimore, Annapolis and Ocean City, Maryland. At Cape May, the ship will be open for tours from 10 a.m. till 6 p.m. daily, and she is available during evenings for private parties.
